UFC 272 main card announced, Rafael dos Anjos vs. Rafael Fiziev co-headlines

Originally scheduled to headline UFC Vegas 48, the lightweight bout between ex-champ Rafael dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev will now be the co-main event of UFC 272.

As previously reported by MMA Fighting, Fiziev’s visa issues forced the promotion to postpone the fight and the March 5 pay-per-view event was chosen as the host. Now the battle for the strongest Rafael will be the highly anticipated matchup between rivals Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal in the headliner.

The UFC made the announcement during the UFC 271 pre-broadcast on Saturday. Dos Anjos makes another attempt at the lightweight title after a poor run at welterweight. In his last fight, he defeated veteran Paul Felder via split decision. Fiziev, one of the most promising fighters in the 155-pound weight category, has won his last five fights and received performance bonuses in four of them.

UFC 272 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and airs on ESPN+ on pay-per-view. The UFC Vegas 48 card at UFC APEX in Las Vegas now leads the light heavyweight fight between Jamahal Hill and Johnny Walker.

The UFC 272 pay-per-view card includes five fights. Here is the confirmed lineup.
