After nearly five years of layoff, heavyweight Jarjis Danho publicly announced his octagonal return, knocking Quilt De Castro down with a thunderous punch at UFC Vegas 23.
Danho and De Castro threw their right hand, but the lights turned off when Danho made contact with De Castro’s temple at the 3:02 mark of the first round in the UFC APEX front card match in Las Vegas.
Check the finish below:
Initially, Danho took a tactical approach to confronting the powerful puncher De Castro and attacked the legs as his opponent tried to get inside. When De Castro sat down with a fist, he leaned just below him and clamped in, hoping to finish a takedown. When De Castro quickly turned over, it was clear that he had to stand up.
With a better placed punch, Danho said the final word about his opponent. And after a surprising layoff due to a series of canceled fights, the finish for “Man Mountain”, whose previous appearance in 2016 was against Christian Colombo, couldn’t be a better comeback.
Meanwhile, De Castro lost for the third time after making decisions against Carlos Felipe and Greg Hardy.
