UFC Vegas 24 medical suspensions: Luis Pena, Chase Sherman among trio potentially facing six-month suspensions – MMA Root

By the time fight night arrives, there are only 10 fights left on the list, so the list of injuries in UFC Vegas 24 is minimal.

Two fighters from Saturday’s main squad and one of the preliminary heavyweights could potentially be out by October, according to a list of health suspensions posted Tuesday on mixedmartialarts.com. This list includes Chase Sherman (left knee, right foot, right tibia / fibula), Luis Pena (left arm), and Juan Espino (right elbow).

All three require additional examination for relevant injuries and permission from an orthopedic surgeon, otherwise they may be suspended from work for six months.

Middleweight headliners Robert Whittaker and Calvin Gastelum escaped the tournament with minimal injuries. Both were suspended for no more than one month.

Whittaker defeated Gastelum by unanimous decision in the main event.

The most notable trauma associated with this event occurred prior to the night of the fight, when Drakkar Klose was forced to abandon his originally planned lightweight co-main event alongside Jeremy Stevens. “Lil Heathen” pushed Klose on the faceoffs on Friday, and Klose later pulled out of the fight on Saturday due to neck problems, headaches and nausea.
