[UPDATE] Fedor Emelianenko Set For October 23 Headliner In Russia – MMA Root

MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko will return to action in a historic event when Bellator MMA makes its debut in Russia.

On Thursday, Ariel Helwani reported that Emelianenko would announce her return to Bellator. It was later revealed in a press on Friday that this comeback will take place in Moscow, Russia, on October 23. He currently does not have an opponent for the fight.

Emelianenko has not been seen in the cage since he impaled Quinton “Rampage” Jackson by first-round TKO in Saitama, Japan. This was the first stop on the “The Last Emperor” retirement tour. Things got out of hand due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before the pandemic took effect, Bellator President Scott Coker said he expected Emelianenko’s tour to end in Moscow. As for what his next stop would have been, Coker scoffed at New York City and Chicago as possible landing sites. As Bellator returns to the live crowds, it is unknown where Emelianenko will fight next.

Fedor has gone 3-1 in his last four outings. His record under the Bellator banner is 3-2. All three wins were against Frank Mir, Chael Sonnen and “Rampage” Jackson. The losses came at the hands of Matt Mitrione and Ryan Bader. None of Fedor’s Bellator matches have gone that far.

Fedor had competed in the Bellator World Heavyweight Grand Prix. He reached the final, where he was eliminated by Bader in 35 seconds. Many felt that this was Fedor’s last chance at a world title in MMA.

Despite being in the middle of a “retirement” tour, Fedor hasn’t promised to hang up his gloves once it’s over. He says it all depends on how you feel.
