Video: UFC champ Valentina Shevchenko battles Halle Berry in first trailer for new MMA film ‘Bruised’
UFC Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko is one of the best fighters in the sport, but she will now strive to be just as dominant in Hollywood after filming her first lead role in the upcoming film Bruised.
On Thursday, the first trailer for the film was released, in which Shevchenko, as the main antagonist, battles Oscar-winning Halle Berry, which will debut on Netflix on November 24.
In the film, Berry plays former UFC fighter Jackie Justice, who was once considered great but ended up leaving the sport in disgrace. Here’s the official synopsis of the movie from Netflix:
“Because of her luck and seething with anger and regret years after the fight, her manager and boyfriend Desi (Adan Kanto) persuaded her to join the brutal clandestine battle and attracted the attention of the battle league promoter (Shaimier Anderson), who promises Jackie life will return to octagon. But the road to redemption becomes unexpectedly personal when Manny (Danny Boyd Jr.) – the son she abandoned as a baby – appears at her doorstep. “
Bruised was Berry’s directorial debut after first taking on the role of star on a project and then deciding to go behind the camera to lead the film.
Shevchenko not only starred in the film with Berry, but also helped with the technical side of the fight scenes, including intense training and sparring with the actress to prepare her to look like a real MMA fighter.
The end result is Bruised, which debuts on Netflix in November. In the meantime, take a look at the new trailer and take a look at Shevchenko in her first leading role.
