The brothers became bitter rivals, Rashad Evans was considered Jon Jones’s mentor and an older brother while at Jackson Wink MMA Academy, however, after feeling betrayed by Jones after his promise to never fight, Evans orchestrated a bitter one. Jackson’s MMA division in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when the war of words began. A year later, after two attempts to have the fight fail due to injuries, Jones and Evans met in Atlanta at UFC 145. Date: 2/5/2011 Rashad struggled to get a title shot again, but the MCL was injured and forced to withdraw from his title match against Shogun Rua at UFC 128. Meanwhile, Jones was in tears. At UFC 126, he faced Ryan Bader, a promising undefeated, and destroyed him. Dana White and the UFC decided to offer Evans vs. Shogun’s spot to Bones due to his stellar performances. Evans graciously gave Jones his blessing and told him that he hoped he would defeat Shogun and become champion. Jones went for the title. You would think this was the point where things went, but no, not yet. Date: 11/5/2011 Not a real problem until there is an altercation in a nightclub, and this problem follows suit. The two crossed paths at Surrender, a Las Vegas nightclub, in May 2011 before the first alleged showdown at UFC 133 on August 6. Not many know what actually happened, but what is known is that the two were there with other UFC fighters. Summit and had words. Rashad claimed that Jones asked to speak to him privately and then told him it would be his first major knockout. Jones said Rashad was the one who started talking shit saying he would crush him in their fight. It was also reported that GSP became upset and told them to take him outside.
