After his impressive performance against Stephen Thompson last summer, Gilbert Burns was struggling to find an opponent until he received a message from Khamzat Chimaev.

“No one wants to fight me, nor Khamzat, so we agreed to fight each other through our social media. Now we’re waiting for the UFC’s decision,” Burns said.

In an exclusive video with Sherdog’s Marcelo Alonso, Burns also commented that he hopes the fight will be a five-round duel at UFC Rio next May. Burns also commented on how he views the matchup stylistically and also explained why he believes Colby Covington and Charles Oliveira are clear favorites in their future bouts against Jorge Masvidal and Justin Gathje respectively.
