With Lerone Murphy out, Nate Landwehr now faces David Onama at UFC Columbus

Nate Landwehr has a new opponent for a planned return to the octagon at the end of the month.

Several people familiar with the promotion’s plans have confirmed to MMA Fighting that Landwehr will now face David Onama at UFC Columbus. The event will take place on March 26 at the Nationwide Arena and will be streamed on ESPN+. Iridium Sports announced the booking on social media for the first time.

Leron Murphy, who was the Landwehr’s original opponent, was forced to pull out of the fight for unknown reasons.

Onama will look to build on the momentum of his first promotional win last month when he defeated Gabriel Benitez via brutal first-round knockout at UFC Vegas 48, earning the Silent Assassin a Performance of the Night award. The standout Glory MMA player opened his eyes with a brief Octagon debut against Mason Jones, moving up to lightweight where he lost by competitive decision.

Landwehr enters the fray after Ludovit Klein received a bonus at UFC Vegas 40 last October, earning a Ludovit Klein choke submission.

The main event of the UFC Columbus tournament will be a fight between Curtis Blaydes and Chris Daukaus.
